McInnes On James’ Mistake

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes says that the mistake made by David James left struggling City on the back foot with a mountain to climb.

Watford could not believe their luck when a high, hopeful ball was sent into the box and James came out to meet the ball at the edge of the area, then he decided to punch the ball out only to see in go in completely the wrong direction and into the net.

Watford went on to win the game quite comfortably 2-0 and McInnes said of the incident: ‘It was a killer goal from our perspective because we had started brightly.

‘A mistake like that is something you cannot anticipate and the game ran away from us.’
