City boss Derek McInnes has give his side a boost by signing defender Mark Wilson.

Wilson left Celtic in the summer and has been training with City and it was widely expected that a bigger club may well have come in for him, but the Scottish international right-back has penned a deal until January 13th and travels to the City Ground for the Robin’s game with Nottingham Forest this weekend.

McInnes felt he could not afford to miss out on Wilson even though his priorities lie in other positions at the club.

He told the Bristol Evening Post: ‘Getting Mark Wilson on board and into the squad is not a gamble for me.

‘I think we have bought ourselves a good signing and I’m sure Mark will prove his worth and value during the course of the season.

‘Signing a right-back was not a priority, but you cannot turn your nose up when quality players become available.’
