Bristol City today confirmed rumours that they have had a bid accepted for Maltese international Michael Mifsud. This was a response to the news being released (perhaps prematurely) by Coventry City.

The Maltese international scored 17 goals for a struggling Coventry side last season having signed for them in January 2007. He is 5’5′ but makes up for it by being a ‘fox in the box’. He linked up well with Dele Adebola at Coventry but has not performed well since Dele joined the Robins. This may have had a bearing on his decision to talk to Bristol City. Norwich City and Crystal Palace were rumoured to be competing for his signature.

The deal is far from done, however, with talks about to be entered into to agree personal terms with the player and presumably his agent. Bristol City would usually have waited until the deal was done but the fee agreement was publicised by Coventry City and therefore Bristol City felt obliged to reciprocate.
