After Bristol City were drawn away to Southend in the Carling Cup today, assistant manager Keith Millen said that he would have preferred a home tie to start off with.

The last two seasons have proved to City just how hard the competition can be, especially when it`s lower league opposition, Crewe and Carlisle have both knocked out the Robins in the first round in the last two seasons.

And Millen is in no doubt that this will be another tough game. He told the club’s official website: ‘It’s a shame we are away, we would have preferred a home tie. It’s a really long journey for our fans also.

‘Steve (Tilson) has a good side, although they got relegated to League Two last season they play some nice football.

‘It will be a tough fixture but it is certainly one we can win and progress into the next round.’
