Bristol City slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Torquay at the weekend, after beating Plymouth 3-2 just a few hours before.

The Robins fell behind in the 13th minute to a strike from trialist Taiwo Atieno. And the Gulls impressed again when they doubled their lead through Rene Howe who scored his first goal for his new club.

After the game, manager Keith Millen told the Bristol Evening Post: ‘I’ve kept everyone happy up until now, but some of the lads have probably played themselves out of contention for the starting 11 for the Ipswich game.

‘They have a lot of work to do if they want to be selected. It’s up to those players to get better and give me a selection headache because, at the moment, I don’t have too many of those.

‘They cannot use tiredness as an excuse. Players are supposed to feel tired during pre-season and they have to be mentally tough enough to cope with the games.

‘But I know this group and they generally bounce back well. They’ll be back in for training and working hard to improve.’
