City boss Keith Millen has revealed he is close to bringing two or three new players to the club, when the transfer window reopens on Saturday.

Millen is believed to be targeting a defender – thought to be a specialist left-back – and a creative midfielder.

Despite previously ruling out any transfer moves in the winter window, Millen has backtracked after seeing his squad decimated by injury and illness.

“We’re down to skeleton numbers because of the injuries and I am trying to get someone in as quickly as possible now,” Millen told Radio Bristol.

“I have a few enquiries which are on-going, but it is going to be very difficult to make signings before these two games in three days.

“I need a defender and another attacking option, but it’s difficult to prise players away from clubs in January.

“We have two or three options out there and we are trying hard, but I don’t think I’ll be able to do any business in the short term.”

City face the Championship’s top-two in three days over the New Year, with Cardiff the visitors to Ashton Gate on New Year’s Day before travelling to QPR on Monday.
