Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has hit back at claims eminating from the Palace dressing room following City’s controversial win over the Eagles.

On-loan West Ham striker Freddie Sears had a decent looking goal ruled out midway through the first half, prompting outspoken Palace gaffer Neil Warnock to launch into a trademark rage.

Warnock told Sky Sports.com: “I thought Gary Johnson and his players could have shown more sportsmanship because they knew it was a goal, like everyone else.

‘We were cheated. And I’m not saying that against the referee because he didn’t mean to get it wrong.”

Whilst Johnson expressed his sympathy towards the 60-year old whinger, he also praised his players for their professionalism in keeping their calm.

Speaking about the controversial goal, Johnson told the club’s website: “The lads were saying the linesmen said it was a push in the end, even though the ball went in the net.

“We didn’t play as well as I would like us to have played, but we hung in on there.”

“I’m sure Neil will be disappointed and I doubt he will come in and have a cup of tea, but I didn’t make the decision and we made sure we didn’t get involved”

“We let them get on with it and didn’t get involved which was probably a good ploy because we picked up the three points.”

“Neil didn’t want to shake my hand and that’s up to him. I can’t say I was surprised after what had happened, but it’s one of those things.”

Palace chairman Simon Jordan also added his ten-pence worth after the game but nobody wants to listen to the views of Croydon’s very own Tango-man!

The Robins host QPR on Tuesday evening and hope to have defenders Louis Carey and Liam Fontaine back in the squad after missing today’s game through injury.

New Lithuanian striker Andrius Velicka should also be available for Tuesday after watching today’s match from the stands, pending the completion of his loan move from Rangers.
