City defender Lewin Nyatanga has joined Peterborough United on a month’s loan, re-uniting him with former City boss Gary Johnson.

Johnson swooped for the Wales international on Saturday after bringing him to Ashton Gate from Derby last summer.

But with Johnson short of defensive options in League One, the 22-year-old was top of Johnson’s list.

“It all happened very quickly, but it is a massive boost that Gary [Johnson] wanted me here and I am looking forward to playing some games,” Nyatanga told the Posh website.

“Peterborough are a good club, I obviously played against them last season and they have managed to keep hold of their players, which was obviously important.

“I know Arron Davies from Wales, Grant McCann from my time with Barnsley and Steve Collis from Bristol City, so they have helped me settle in and I can’t wait to get started.”
