O’Neil Out For Three Months

Midfielder Gary O’Neil has now been sidelined for the next three months following news he requires surgery.

The player has featured four times for us so far this campaign, but those games came in August and he has been undergoing injections in recent weeks to attempt to settle ongoing injury problems.

Following further tests with the injury not reacting as was hoped, a new diagnosis of surgery has been determined and that operation will not take place over the next seven days.

The surgery will be exploratory to identify any abnormalities on his hamstring tendons at the back of the knee, with the debridement of the tendons followed by a repair.

Manager Lee Johnson told the Official Site.

‘It`s very difficult for players when they pick up these injuries. We`ve tried everything possible to help him through non-operative measures to try to get him right. The only step now is surgery. He`ll go under the knife in the coming days and that will mean him being out for a minimum of 12 weeks.’
