Derek McInnes has made the bold statement that he will keep Bristol City in the Championship.

To say that City are on a poor run is an understatement, the Robins have a solitary point to show from the last seven games and that, in anyone`s book is relegation form.

Injuries have not helped the boss in any way, shape or form, but even he admits that the poor run was not something he expected to see.

Speaking to the club’s official website McInnes said: ‘The run we’re on is such a poor run. I never saw it coming. The injuries are a concern and we’re having to patch people up and throw them out there when they may not be fully match-fit.’

City have been playing in a way of late that when tey go a goal down, any confidence that they had simply drains from them and teams are finding it quite easy to finish the job off.

He continued: ‘I’m sure the players aren’t enjoying it and the supporters certainly aren’t enjoying it. We have got to make sure we generate that optimism and belief – and we’ve all got to work hard to make that happen.

‘The harder we work, the luckier we’ll become I’m sure. It’s a club that has to be at the very least in the Championship. I’ll be doing all I can to make sure that’s the case.’

City have now slipped to 21st in the table and are only three points in front of Coventry City.
