Marlon Pack has called on Bristol City to build some extra momentum as we go into the EFL Cup clash with Stoke City.

Having taken a comprehensive four one victory over Derby County in our latest Championship match, the three points lifted the club into eighth place in the table and although Pack admitted that the Cup tie against our Premier League opponents wouldn’t be a distraction, he knew how good it would be for our momentum if we could take victory or at the least put in an extremely solid performance.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media ahead of tonight’s game, he explained.

‘Over the years the transition Stoke have undergone has been brilliant. They`re an established Premier League team now and, as a footballer, you want to be testing yourself against the best. Even if they make changes, their team will still be packed full of quality. It`s a chance for us to show what we can do.’

As for momentum issues, City are unbeaten in seven across all competitions since the defeat to Birmingham City in early August and he also knew we shouldn’t fear Mark Hughes side, as we could take confidence from victory over Watford in the second round clash.

‘The momentum is great for us right now and we want to continue that, whether it`s a league game or a cup game. I`m sure there will be a few lads coming into the team who will want to impress the gaffer to stake a claim for regular football. It was great to beat Watford in the last round but to have a Premier League team come to Ashton Gate will be fantastic for the club and everyone is up for it.’
