Bristol City striker Brett Pitman has returned to the south coast signing for his old club Bournemouth on loan.

The 24 year old will then possibly become a permanent signing for the Cherries in January, taking him back to the club where he has had most success.

Pitman scored 62 goals in 197 games before moving to Ashton Gate in August 2010, but he has not been able to command a regular place in City’s side, but has produced 20 goals in the 81 appearances he has made.

The initial deal will keep Pitman at Bournemouth until January 3rd; he will then probably be given the chance to move back to his old club if a fee can be agreed.

City manager Derek McInnes told Sky Sports: ‘This is a good chance to go and get regular match action, which Brett hasn’t enjoyed here at Bristol City recently.

‘He’ll relish the chance of a return to Bournemouth and I’m sure he’ll do well for them. I wish him luck with the loan. If all goes well then it could lead to something further.’

This season Pitman has made one Capital One Cup appearance and three substitute appearances in the league.
