Bobby Reid and Aden Flint have both given their thoughts on the narrow loss to Manchester City in the EFL Cup Semi Final first leg and their hopes for the second leg.

With Reid opening the scoring from the penalty spot at the Etihad Stadium yesterday evening, he was obviously interviewed by the press and the Official Site at the full time whistle and the Academy graduate wanted the fans to be the 12th man when we host them at Ashton Gate.

‘It is disappointing that they have scored in the last minute but we can take credit from our performance. There’s another leg, another 90 minutes and hopefully we can turn it around. We are disappointed to have lost 2-1 against Manchester City and that shows how far we have come and how far we can go. We keep having that belief in hard work and desire to go and play against the best teams in the world and who knows what can happen?’

Reid went on to say.

‘The fans were brilliant. We could hear them from the first minute to the last, even when they scored the winner we could still hear them. It was emotional but we know that having them behind us in the next leg will be crucial. We just need to play our normal game at home, as we have all season, not treat it like they are superstars; we will show them respect but at the same time we know we are good enough to beat them.’

As for Flint, he too felt that we should focus on the positives and not the late disappointment from the game, especially as we have the potentially all important away goal to consider.

‘They are the best team in the world at the minute. We did very well and we can hold our heads high. We`re disappointed having conceded late on but I`m still proud of everyone in the changing room tonight. We`ve given ourselves something to go at in the next game, we`re not out of the tie at all. Your saw what happened against Manchester United so anything can happen. We`re still in the game and I`m looking forward to it. We just need to play our own game and take it to them in two weeks` time like we did at Manchester United.’

Having headed off the line from Raheem Sterling just before the half time break, he added.

‘It was pure instinct. I was in the right place at the right time but I’m thankful that the ball went over the crossbar. It could have gone into the roof of the net and I would have egg on my face. I`m delighted to have stopped that and to go into half-time with the lead but that`s what I`m there to for, to defend and keep the goals out.’
