City’s Welsh Under-21 starlet Christian Ribeiro has been banished to League One Stockport on a month’s loan.

Ribeiro has recovered from a groin strain picked up on international duty last month and goes straight into the Hatters squad for tomorrow’s game with Exeter.

Gary Johnson told the bcfc.co.uk: “Christian was out for a long time with his knee injury and he’s done well on his return so far.

“He’s looked very confident playing for Wales Under-21s, with whom he has plenty of games under his belt. However, this move will now allow him to get some league games and gain some league confidence.

“It’s only for one month initially and we’ll keep a close eye on how he fares during his time there.”

The move comes as a surprise to many who feel he should be challenging for a first-team place at a time when our first two right-back’s are struggling with injury.

Cole Skuse has had to play out of position over the last month to plug the gap when Ribs should have been banging on the door for a first team place, not going out on loan.

It shows a glaring lack of faith in yet another one of our promising academy lads and begs the question, if they can’t get a chance when we’re low on numbers in a certain position now, when will they?
