Robins Crash At Wolves

Bristol City suffered something of a shock in the second half of the game against Wolves this afternoon.

Two quick fire goals for the home side turned the game on its head and earned Wolves a rare win, Bristol City on the other hand return to Ashton Gate knowing that they now have to fight tooth and nail to get out of the mess that they are in.

It looked like it was going to be City’s day when they took the lead in the first half through a freak goal; it would have been O’Driscoll’s first away win since he took over at the club.

But Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Kevin Doyle both got on the end of a Stephen Hunt cross each to score the goals that put the home side on course for their first win under Dean Saunders.

The game was 25 minutes old when City took the lead in a bizarre fashion. Ikeme played a short goal kick to Davies, he decided to pass the ball back to his keeper but it went through the keeper’s legs and into the back of the net. His manager Saunders was not happy.

Keeper Ikeme was replaced by Dores De Vries at half time, no doubt there would have been some industrial language coming out of the Wolves dressing room during the break.

Whatever was said, it perked the home side up and they had several chances to level things before Ebanks-Blake volleyed Hunt’s cross into the top corner with just 14 minutes left on the clock.

That was hard enough for City fans to swallow, but it got a whole lot worse a few minutes later when Hunt again provided the delivery, this time Doyle was on the end of it to head home and give Wolves the points.

It’s still tight at the bottom of the league but City are now four points adrift from safety, both Peterborough and Barnsley also won their games.
