Robins Take On Canaries

This should be a home banker if City’s previous home form against the Canaries is anything to go by but that’s easier said than done when you have just dropped into the relegation zone. The season is still young though and all is not lost, just yet.

Meanwhile, higher up the league in third place sit Norwich City and Paul Lambert will be hoping his side can break the mould at Ashton Gate to keep the Canaries in with a chance of another promotion.

Vital Quotes:

City gaffer Keith Millen previews Norwich…
“The players realise the importance of this game and I need to pick an eleven that can cope with the pressure.

“We all want that first home win desperately. We want to move up the table, and after Saturday we’ve got two weeks without a game. It won’t be a nice feeling going into the international break without having taken three points.”

Norwich boss Paul Lambert’s thoughts on City…
“They’ve been a force in the Championship for a couple of seasons, so this will be tough.

“We’re under no illusions how tough this will be. I know Steve Coppell leaving would have hurt them a little bit, but they’ve also had the boost of bringing in David James.

“But Keith Millen has done it before so it’s not new to him and hopefully he does fine – after tomorrow.”

Bristol City Team News:

Defender Jamie McAllister is a doubt for City.

The left-back was forced off 10 minutes from the end of the 3-1 defeat to Portsmouth. He is rated 50/50.

Changes could be in the offing with Ivan Sproule, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, David Clarkson and the fit again Danny Haynes and Brett Pitman offering attacking alternatives.

Defenders Damion Stewart and Nicky Hunt and midfielder Lee Johnson are other options for Millen.

On-loan Tottenham defender Steven Caulker is likely to keep his place and make his home debut.

Player to watch: Steven Caulker

We’re hearing good things about the young Spurs centre-back. If they are true, he could be just what we need.

Norwich City Team News:

Norwich manager Paul Lambert has an unchanged squad to choose from.

Lambert saw his side move up to third in the table on the back of Tuesday’s 4-3 victory over 10-man Leicester at Carrow Road, which saw only a second start for striker Simeon Jackson.

The Canada international – signed for £1-million from Gillingham in the summer – was replaced by Chris Martin, who had dropped to the bench with 19 minutes remaining. Who Lambert goes with remains to be seen.

Former Rangers left-back Steven Smith made his first appearance for the club when he came on for the final 10 minutes against the Foxes but he is expected to again start on the bench.

Player to watch: Wes Hoolahan

The mercurial little Northen Irish left-winger is well-known to City fans following his days with Blackpool. He was a threat then and his runs in behind Grant Holt will need to be watched again.
