Rodgers Says Swansea Had An Off Day

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers says that his team had an off night when they played Bristol City at the Liberty Stadium last night.

Jonathan Stead did the damage when he scored what proved to be the winner after six minutes.

‘It was very disappointing,’ he said.

‘We had an off night. We did not start well and you have to give credit to Bristol City, once they got the goal they defended strongly, closed the spaces up and we could not break them down.

‘I said to the players that we have to learn the lesson, that at any game we cannot afford to have an off day, we have to be 100% on it. We were a little loose with our passing and started slowly and you cannot afford to do that.

‘We were better in the second half and maybe with a bit more luck we could have got the goal.

‘But I cannot criticise them, they are a humble group of players and they are hurting in that changing room because we want to win our home games.

‘Maybe we were a bit flat because of the whole build-up and the whole derby thing but we have to put it to bed and learn from it.’
