Bristol City completed their second deadline day signing, this time swooping for Dutch midfielder Evander Sno.

Sno arrives at Ashton Gate from Dutch-giants Ajax on a season-long loan, having previously endured a mixed spell north of the border with Celtic.

Signed by Marco van Basten on a three-year deal last season, his face clearly didn’t fit with new Ajax boss Martin Jol and City have fought off tough competition from German side Hertha Berlin for his signature.

This signing looks to be a major coup for Gary Johnson and the club as the 22-year-old midfielder was easily the best player on the park in City’s July’s pre-season friendly defeat to the former European champions.

Fondly remembering his July visit to Ashton Gate, Sno told bcfc.co.uk: “It was the Bristol City fans who were clapping when I was leaving the pitch. It gave me a good feeling about this move.

“Bristol City are a good footballing team and I’m very pleased with the move.”

Sno arrived in Bristol yesterday before successfully passing a medical while City completed the paperwork today.

Sno added: “I want to play as many games as I can. I’m 22-years-old and it’s time I got some regular football under my belt.

“I have experience of playing in the Champions League with Celtic. I’m ready for English football.”

Hats off to Gary Johnson and particularly Steve Lansdown for funding this. Great business City!
