Former City loanee Jordan Spence has committed his immediate future to West Ham, ending Keith Millen’s pursuit of the England under-21 defender.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell at Ashton Gate towards the end of last season, leading City boss Keith Millen to monitor his progress.

But, with his contract due to expire at the end of the month, Spence has ended speculation by agreeing a new deal to remain at Upton Park.

Spence confirmed on his Twitter account: “Delighted that pretty much everything has been agreed, and look forward to next season. #whufc.”

The young Hammer made 11 appearances at Ashton Gate during a three month loan spell last season.
