Steve Phillips, pictured above, is once again on standby for a return to first team action. For the second time in three matches, Bristol City’s Brazilian goalkeeper Adriano Basso has had to be helped from the pitch and substituted by the long serving Phillips.
Against Gillingham Adriano dislocated a finger and yesterday against Yeovil Town he was knocked out in a brave challenge with Yeovil’s Matt Harrold. Despite his protests that he was merely meditating, the Yeovil Club doctor insisted that Adriano had to leave the field which he eventually did with some ‘assistance’ from manager Gary Johnson. With the Walsall match looming, Adriano faces a battle to retain the yellow jersey and will require medical clearance in order to do so.
