Bristol City striker Milan Djuric has been speaking this week about his delight at returning to the scoresheet in last weekend’s victory over Ipswich Town.

Djuric came off the bench with just over 30 minutes remaining in the game and he headed home under 10 minutes later from Lloyd Kelly’s cross to secure all three points, but as he continues to build his fitness following his groin injury he had personal delight when it came to the goal and not just because of what it meant for City and our ongoing promotion hopes.

Speaking to the Official Site as the 27 year old made only his eleventh appearance of the campaign, and his second successive showing since early December, he explained.

‘I’m very happy to have scored the goal, for the three points because it was an important win for us. It wasn’t our best performance but in this period the three points was important. It was a great ball from Lloydy who had a great match and he deserved his assist. It’s my favourite touch, to score with my head, so I’m happy to have scored.’

It was only his third goal of the campaign as well given previous efforts against Crystal Palace and Sunderland back in October and the international break could be well timed for him now as he uses the time off to further build his fitness and sharpness ahead of the season run in.

‘It’s important for us because in the last four games we have picked up seven points. Now we have the international break so we are now nearer to the top six. That’s good for us to come back to in the remaining eight games.’

All eyes to football’s return and the Barnsley game when the break is over as we now sit only one point off Middlesbrough in the last Play Off spot.
