Tomlin Seals Severnside Switch To Cardiff

Bristol City forward Lee Tomlin has completed a transfer to rivals Cardiff.

Tomlin, who completed his permanent transfer to Bristol City from Bournemouth last summer, which came after a successful loan, has joined Cardiff for an undisclosed fee on a three year deal.

According to BBC, the fee could eventually see Cardiff pay £2.9m for the former Middlesbrough man.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock told BBC Radio Wales: ‘If I had a choice of any other player I’ve been after over the summer, Tomlin would have been at the top of my list.’

It was a disappointing campaign for Tomlin last season, admittedly Bristol City collectively, but Robins boss Lee Johnson recently insisted, after the 28 year old suggested an exit was on the cards, Tomlin was still in his plans.

Obviously he wasn’t and now isn’t – it’ll make for a couple of interesting Severnside derbies next season.

Explaining the decision chief executive officer Mark Ashton told Official Website: ‘Since turning his loan deal into a permanent move, it didn`t quite work out for Lee, as he acknowledged publicly. Everyone at Ashton Gate would like to wish Lee all the very best for the future.’

In total Tomlin made 60 appearances for Bristol City and scored 13 goals, including seven last season.
