Tribute to a Gas Man

People who dedicate their lives to Sport, and to one team in particular, are few and far between. At Ashton Gate we all fondly remember the wonderful Beryl Fudge who worked tirelessly for the Club for so many years.
One such devoted servant was Ray Kendall who served Bristol Rovers well in so many ways, including as kit man,for over 50 years.I met Ray many times at local derbies and he was always friendly, courteous, helpful and happy whatever the result of the match. All in all Ray , despite his somewhat misguided football loyalty, was an all round ‘good egg’. I am sure that his life will be celebrated, as it should be, at his funeral at St. John’s Church in Keynsham today and, afterwards, at the Memorial Ground.
Ray, we salute you, the Gas have lost one of their finest.
