The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.

Leaders Cardiff slipped to a surprise defeat at Birmingham on Friday as they missed the chance to extend their lead on Friday – the other game that evening saw Bristol City drop two point against struggling Burton.

Bolton finally picked up a first win at the 12th attempt but the Trotters’ victory over Sheffield Wednesday wasn’t enough to take them off the bottom of the table.

Had Preston not been denied all three points at Fulham they could have moved into an automatic promotion place, as it was North End’s unbeaten run was extended but they stay in a place off place, which is something Leeds also hold despite a third straight defeat – Reading’s win at Elland Road was the Royals’ first in five.

Sheffield United responded positively to a defeat last time round with a win over Ipswich – now beaten in three of their last four – to hold a joint share of the lead with Cardiff until Wolves’ win over rivals Aston Villa took them top on Saturday evening.

A derby on Sunday saw Derby overcome Nottingham Forest, which took the Rams above Forest – now beaten in four of the last five – into 13th after a first win in five.

Here’s a round-up of the Championship results.
