Bristol City’s first away league fixture of season 2013/14 against Coventry City will be played at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium. Because Northampton Town have a home game on the Saturday (10th of August) City`s away match at Coventry City will now take place on Sunday, August 11th (3pm) at Sixfields Stadium.

In a statement on www.football-league.co.uk the Football League say:

“The Board of Directors of The Football League has reluctantly approved an application by Otium Entertainment Group – the Administrator’s preferred bidder for Coventry City FC Limited – for Coventry City to play its home matches at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium for an initial period of three seasons.”

Conspiracy theories abound in Coventry and it would appear that this spells trouble, not only for Coventry City but for Northampton Town too.”The Rev Sky Blue‘ of popular fans forum www.FootballForums.net writes:

“We may be seeing not only the slow death of a once great proud club but the start of the demise of another in Northampton Town.”

“All SISU wanted at Cov was the Ricoh on the cheap, and now that is totally out of the question ,have they set their sights on the cobblers, who have wanted to develop there ground and improve infrastructure around it for many years. Though they have funding for some to increase it to a paltry 10,000, SISU may see an opportunity to worm there way in after a couple of years, and grab this stadium for themselves.Whatever agreements are in place I can assure cobblers fans their club is now in real danger of being consumed by corparate greed.”

“I will predict that after funding the skyblues at a huge loss for the 3 years, they decide to liquidate the club and then make a bid to take over at Northampton. They probably will start to part fund in any way the developments soon, sidestepping any financial restrictions about funding two clubs, ready for a takeover in 2016/7 and get there mucky hands on that ground.”

“We are seeing the slow death of one great club but are we seeing the start of a death of another in Northampton Town FC. If I was a cobblers fan, I would be treating this news with great scepticism of the future of my club. They have got into bed with the devil and the FL should hang their heads in shame for allowing it, the gutless cowards. They have allowed a club to be relocated 35 miles outside its city, to a company that put itself into administration ,and allow a sub company of SISU to rebuy it out of admin. This company has no plans in place, no area brought for a new stadium or obviously no planning permission, and they agree the club will be back NEAR Coventry within 3 years.”

“You watch their reaction to the first sign of racial singing/chanting this season, they will come down on the club/owners so hard, yet they allow another MK franchise situation happen and let a 130 year old football club die, because believe me we will never play football in Coventry again”

“Gutless cowards, that’s what the FL are and they can shove there motto,”football for the fans” up their jacksies”

Whatever happens Coventry City FC have been sent from Coventry for at least the next three seasons.
