A routine win for the early Championship pace setters; that’s seven wins and a draw from the first eight games for Wolves who are scoring goals for fun. Bristol City did well to restrict them to two with more good saves from Weale and good defensive performances by Carey and Fontaine. Weale was caught off his line as Michael Kightly’s free kick from the touch line floated in. A well taken volley from Ebanks-Blake wrapped up the points. But for poor finishing City may have done better. Sproule, Adebola, Maynard and McIndoe all missed opportunities to keep the away side in the game. McIndoes miss with the goal gaping only enhanced the barracking that the ex-Wolf was getting from the home faithful. A fair result but another pulsating encounter.
Mick McArthy
“I demand that work rate from them. The ones who don’t put it in don’t play. It has been a really pleasing start to the season; the best I’ve ever had. But if we hadn’t scored that second goal, it would have been a nervy finish; we weren’t calm enough to pick the right pass or shot.”

Gary Johnson
“We’re humble enough to give Wolves credit but we’re disappointed rather than disheartened. Wolves came at us very strongly from the start but we created opportunities either side of half time and made a game of it. They are buzzing at the moment.”
