Bristol City have been taking a look at Wycombe’s out-of-contract central defender Aaron Pierre – he will feature for the Robins against Guernsey FC on Saturday.

Pierre has been offered an improved deal at Adams Park but is yet to put pen to paper on that new contract with Wycombe so is now officially a free agent and could make the step up to the Championship if he’s impressed Lee Johnson this week.

His Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has said Pierre, 24, was ‘probably the best centre-half in League Two,’ according to the Official Website.

Confirming his trial Pierre’s involvement in Bristol City’s pre-season opener was also announced as he is in the squad in action tomorrow afternoon.

Southall-born but an international through his parent for Grenada, capped four times and scoring once, he started his career at Fulham before linking up with Brentford’s academy.

He joined Wycombe, initially on loan, in 2014 and during his time with the Chairboys Pierre has made 149 appearances.
