Gianfranco Zola was not exactly happy that his side twice lost the lead to a Bristol City side who were good value for a point on Saturday, but he did point to what he saw as the positives.

Most of the chances in the game went the way of the home side but City did not buckle until the 59th minute when unlucky James Wilson turned a Marco Cassetti past Heaton and into his own net.

Marvin Elliott’s header put City back on par only for Matej Vydra to fire the home side back in front, leaving the Hornets looking like they had done enough for all three points.

But with just seven minutes left on the clock, Steven Davies equalised leaving Zola with plenty to ponder.

He told Sky Sports: ‘If I focus myself only on that, yes, it’s going to be very frustrating, but there’s also a lot of good positive things I can take from this game.

‘We created a lot, scored two goals. Yes, towards the end it was shaky, certainly not very healthy for the manager’s heart, but I think a lot is down to the fact that many players are recovering from injuries so towards the end we got tired a little bit.

‘But it’s early days, we will improve that and once we do that it is going to be a very good team.’
