Bradley Orr was sent off for City for kicking the ball away, it was his second yellow card of the game, but it was otherwise a good day`s work for City.

City were below par in the first half but never really looked in any real trouble of going behind. All three goals came in a much livelier second half.

Colchester took the lead 5 minutes into the second half, Clive Platt slotted home from close range. Going one down seemed to kick City into life and two minutes later City were on level terms, Dele Adebola headed in a Jamie McAllister cross.

Six minutes later City took the lead, Michael McIndoe’s shot from long range took a deflection and looped over the Colchester keeper, 2-1 to City. The win moved City to second in the Championship, just one point behind league leaders Stoke City.
