Superb – one word to describe a game full of goals, chances and more goals. A game in which both teams totally ignored defensive dutys which in turn provided a game of flowing attacking open football which is a great advert for the FA cup.

A game in which City started nervously as Coventry looked like the team to score first and they did that when on 13minutes Colin Cameron opened the scoring with a good finish. Recieveing the ball in the box after calls for offisde which prove inconclusive by replays, Cameron slotted home over Basso and into the bottom corner 1-0.

But Coventry were still celebrating when the home side equalised instantly. Brooker recieving the ball in the box, turning and scoring a trademark goal with a powerfull shot into the bottom corner, no chance for keeper Luke Steele.

And then moments later City fans were still celebrating when Showumni made it 2-1 when good work from the impressive Brooker out wide made space for a cross onto the head of Showumni. But the ball was cleared off the line, not according to the linesman and also according to the replays I have seen either! Had it not gone in, surly City would have had a penalty from a Coventry hand ball anyway.

And the come back was added to when more good wide work from City and Showumni lead to Jevons heading in un-marked. 3-1 and an extatic atmosphere from the City fans where it seemed surly City would hold on or get more goals and that they should have done. When Murray jinked his way into the box skipping past challenges like the Murray of old but firing over the bar when most of the ground thought the ball had hit the back of the net.

Surly then the game would have been dead and buried, but the feeling around us was that there would be more goals. And City were made to pay for missing the Murray chance when Coventry hit back after poor defending from City. After having numerous chances to clear the ball, city kept scuffing it to the feet of Coventry players and were made to pay when McCombe scuffed the ball to osbourne who laid it off to Doyle who played in McKenzie who slotted home from no more than 6 yard for 3-2.

After 2 discusting rough tackles from Coventry forward Kevin Kyle which both easilly merited yellow cards, only getting the lucky one yellow card. City should have gone back to 4-2 when Brooker reieved the ball in the box back to goal where he tried a back-heel which hit the side-netting.

Coventry then added pace to there presance with the quality of Stern John and Wayne Andrews entering the fray. City also made a change, replacing the hard-working Jevons with Skuse replacing him, leaving Brooker alone up front and Showumni out wide as City looked to hold this lead and score on the break.

Coventry then took control for the rest of the half and that started when Stern John was put free in front of goal but blasted over the bar when scoring would have been easier.

Then the pressure so nearly paid off when Cameron collected the ball on the edge of the area and cannoned the ball against the bar with a ferocious drive.

Brooker then missed the ultimate chance when good work from Bradley Orr played Murray in on the right where he crossed along the floor to Brooker who totally missed the ball and the chance to put City in the 4th round in a rare second half attack.

City goalkeeper Basso then had to deny John with a super save when again John was in a good posistion to score but Basso saved his close range effort.

When all us city fans were convinced we were going to hold on to the win, Coventry went and equalised when the superb Keogh didn’t clear the ball which let McKenzie nip in and square for John to score, only just as Basso was very close to keeping it out, getting a touch to the ball.

City then un-believable had a great chance to score in the dying minutes when the improving Lee Johnson was put through on goal, taking one touch and driving to the near post of Steele who tipped it wide for a corner.

Overall a superb effort from City and equally well done to Coventry for playing a big part in a superb game of cup football. A real classic put obviously disappointment for us City fans for not winning the game but a good fight back from Coventry has us heading to The impressive Ricoh Arena for the replay.
