As the summer continues to unfold further names, potential replacements for some Bristol City players in some instances, continue to be linked to arrivals at Ashton Gate.

Securing Aden Flint’s future would trump signings in many ways, however, the in demand defender looks set to leave Bristol City for around £5m, which could see Birmingham’s Ryan Shotton signed as his replacement.

Arriving at Birmingham last summer, former Stoke and Derby defender Shotton, could be the man Lee Johnson earmarks to replace the West Brom and Aston Villa linked Flint.

Shotton, 28, who has two years to run on his Birmingham contract, has plenty of Championship experience, having also played Premier League football too, would make a good addition if secured.

According to the Bristol Post, Cardiff’s former Manchester City, Wigan and Huddersfield midfielder, Welsh international too, Emyr Huws could be snapped up, assuming Bristol City can tempt him to Ashton Gate ahead of a permanent move to Ipswich.

Huws, 23, has also been linked with Wolves but that impressive spell at Portman Road last season, after becoming surplus to requirement for Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, could lead to the Welshman’s Ipswich switch.

The same report in the Bristol Post suggested an interest in Huws’ Cardiff teammate Peter Whittingham, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the month, is interesting Johnson too.
