City boss Gary Johnson watched his side battle out a goalless draw with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday and then declared himself proud of his players.

Johnson did not have the services of Nicky Maynard or Dean Gerken due to illness and added to that Louis Carey was missing with a knee injury.

But even so, City did well to hold out at a ground that they have yet to win on although that could have been changed in the third minute of injury time when a point blank effort from Cole Skuse was stopped by Swans keeper Dorus De Vries.

Johnson said: ‘I am very proud of my players because they all worked their socks off. I am very happy with a point and we could have snatched the victory right at the end.’

He added: ‘It is a squad game now and we have had to make full use of all our players as we have had several going down with a virus.

‘Nicky Maynard had to be taken out of the starting line-up after reporting in unwell on the morning of the game.’
