City manager Keith Millen has revealed he is trying to bring in a new left-back and a creative midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.

Millen told supporters at Thursday night’s fan meeting that the current squad was “too big and imbalanced.”

“We don’t have cover for Jamie McAllister on the left side. When we let Paul Hartley go we lost probably our most creative midfielder,”
Millen told the fans.

“That’s the two areas we’d like to strengthen in January.

“We’ve got six players in our development squad and 12 out of contract in the summer.

“We need to move some of those players on in January, instead of losing them for nothing in the summer.

“There are some out of contract players we want to keep and we’ll be speaking to them.”

Millen also revealed that City had made an enquiry to take Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on loan from Arsenal ahead of yesterday’s loan deadline, with City missing Nicky Maynard, Sam Vokes and Jon Stead considered doubtful for Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United.
