City turned in an immense performance at Oldham to turn the home side over 3-0 in there own back yard, pace, power and passion were on the order and thats what we got in a breathtaking performance by the City boys.

Brian Wilson stepped in for his debut replacing the injured Jevons with Enoch pushing up front and Wilson on the left. With a decent away following of 864 City fans which at times sounded and looked like double, City players needed to pay the fans back for the super support. And they did that in style.

After an early scare, when Bassos poor kick deflected off Porter and went safely wide to the relief of the fans favourite.

But after the early scare City took the lead and never looked back when on 9 minutes Showumni powered forward from the half way line and reached the edge of the box un-challenged and shot tamely at the goalkeeper, only to see it bounce over his body and into the back of the net.

City nearly made it 0-2 when poor defending by Oldham let brooker have a shot at goal only for Pogliacomi to rip onto the bar and over. Then a real chance to make it 0-2 came when neat build up play set up to run at the Oldham defence in the box only to be tripped by Simon Charlton.
Unusually Enoch Showumni took the kick but his poor kick was saved by Pogliacomi, making up for his earlier mistake.

Oldham fans then thought they had got a equaliser against the run of play when a super finish by porter was met by the offside flag.

The ever-impressive Wilson then shot over after more neat build up play, with Showumni also firing wide when well placed.

City were edging for that 2 goal lead which would see them safely into the break, and they got it when from a cleared City corner, the ball broke to Brooker who layed the ball back to McAllister who struck a 25 yard beauty into the bottom corner, leaving Pogliacomi motionless and the City fans delighted.

Then a half-time Brooker was forced off with an unfortunate injury which left him with 2 stud marks in his shin after a rough challenge.

The pace and power of Andrews then came to life when 9 minutes into the second half Showumni played him through on goal only to see his effort tipped against the post.

Citys defence then had to do some rare work when the young Chris Taylor ran through into the box only for a last ditch tackle McAllister prevented his powerfull shot hitting the back of the net.

Maybe a third goal was needed at this stage with Oldham threatening for a small spell and the 3rd goal came. Showumni and Wilson combined to great effect with Wilson played Showumni through, he squared to Andrews to slide the ball into an empty net to score his 1st goal for City on his debut against his former club.

Basso was then called into action saving from a Porter header as City rang the changes in centeral midfield with the superb partnership of Johnson and Skuse being replaced by Keogh and Noble.

An absolute super performance from the City boys which showed what they are all about. New signing Wilson showing some great touches and super athletism and pace.
Andrews showing simular to prove Johnson can perform in the tranfser market. Play like that against Boro in the cup next week and we will cause them problems.

Player Ratings

Adriano Basso
Fast becoming a top keeper, handling was excellent in dodgey conditions with the ball bobbling all over the place.

Bradley Orr
Solid performance, passing is improving, didn’t get beaten by the Oldham winger once.

Jamie McAllister
Superb at left back, hes proving now why he should be in the Scotland squad and has been in the past. Superb goal, can strike a ball so cleanly, should be scoring more goals.

Jamie McCombe
Solid at the back, played his natural game, didn’t let the normally influential Warne out of his sight.

Louis Carey
Solid again like McCombe, captains performance and kept the leagues top scorer Porter out of the game.

Scott Murray
Back to his best, simple as. Never looses the ball, tracks back and won a penalty with his trickery and pace in the box.

Lee Johnson
Great in the midfield and is deffinatly back to his best, showing he should be at a higher level. Passing was immaculate and was not shirking tackles.

Cole Skuse
Busy player, busy game. This lad never stops running, incredible energy levels, mopped up the midfield and never gave the ball away.

Brian Wilson
Very impressive full debut for the young lad, looked like the left winger we have been crying out for. Skipped past challenges with his pace and athletism, looks like a bargin!

Steve Brooker
Always a threat in the first half, maybe still not at his best but was unlucky not to score a couple of goals before coming off at half-time injured.

Enoch Showumni
Probably his best game I have seen him play. His pace was a massive worry for the Oldham defence and his hold up play is even more impressive. Scored one and set up the other, can’t ask anymore from him.

Wayne Andrews
Looked very good when he came on, showed great pace which we have lacked up front. Maybe his finishing was a bit suspect but we brought him to score and that he did do.

Manager Rating
Superb, tactics were spot-on, showing what a great manager he really is. 2 new signings who played today were superb.
