City tonight stroll to a quality victory to book a place in the Jpt area final with there opponents to be decided after Rovers game at Gay meadow against Shrewsbury was postponed.
On a night when the prospect of City playing Rovers in a derby was the biggest topic, first we needed to get through and that we did. With 2 changes to saturdays starting line up with Andrews in for the injured Brooker and the ineligable Wilson being replaced by Myrie-Williams.
This lead to City starting off the brightest when a superb through ball from Andrews put Murray clean through with only the goalie to beat but saw his low shot saved from the impressive Kuipers.

City were on the attack again moments later when a sloppy bit of defending from Butters lead to Murrays attempted chip from 35yards again failing to beat Kuipers who had to react with great athletism to catch the ball finally.

Citys keeper Basso was then finally called into action when he saved a Cox effort from the angle.

Kuipers denied City the goal they deserved when he saved first from a super McCombe header and then denying another Scott Murray effort from the edge of the box to tip over.

Then finally the break-through as City finally beat the ex-rovers keeper when McAllisters free kick was nodded on my Jamie McCombe for Showumni to loft over the keeper into the roof of the net. Showumni keeping his impressive run of 5 goals in 5 games going.

City then went into a mode of oles as they passed the ball around with ease ‘playing’ with the opposistion.

As City came out in the second half more of the same passing came to fruitation when a good move involving a brilliant through pass from Myrie williams set up Murray on a run who squared to Johnson, he then chipped the ball to the back-post which Myrie-Williams layed back to Andrews to guide home from close range. A super team goal which showed that when we turn up the style, we really can score goals.

As City played the game out with more passing and moving, the final whistle went to send City through and un-defeated in 16 games.

City will now find out in seven days time whether they face Rovers or Shrewsbury, the wait for some City fans will be exciting as we play Boro on saturday in the FA CUP.
