So we reach game number nine of the season and we are still looking for the first win in the league. Today’s opponents, Colchester are a mid-table side at the moment that are hardly setting the league alight. I think this may be the one folks!!

I feel it in my water that it’s going to be our day, we have been close a couple of times, other times we have never been at the races, but today Colchester, who have only won twice themselves, for me don’t come to Ashton Gate with anything for us to fear.

John Dunne brings his side to the Gate with a record of three losses and four draws from the last seven games, with Gillingham and Port Vale being the only two sides they have beaten so far this term. Last time out they took on Crawley, they made a great start by going ahead after just six minutes through Freddie Sears, but Ernie Sinclair grabbed an equaliser for the visitors after just half an hour and that’s the way things stayed.

So, Colchester are far from the best opposition we have faced so far, and with their list of players out, I think we can do it.

Vital Quotes:

Nicky Shorey: “There is a lot of good work being put in behind the scenes by the lads and the coaching staff and I don`t think we are far away. Football is about fine margins and, at the minute, results are going against us.

“I`m convinced fortunes will turn back in our favour and, when they do, everyone will relax and we`ll be able to put a run together.

“There is no secret formula (for achieving that first win). We have to just keep working hard and keep doing the good things we`ve done in recent games.

“I`ve seen enough in my time here to convince me will not be waiting long for that win.”

Bristol City Team News:
