City could be forced to cut their cloth more accordingly in January, after the club announced losses of close to £12-million for the last 12 months on Thursday.

According to media reports, former England goalkeeper David James could head the list of departures.

But, after receiving assurances from City chairman Steve Lansdown when he signed in the summer, James is expected to see out his contract before leaving in the summer.

Boss Keith Millen is under pressure to sell, following years of over-spending by former managers Gary Johnson and Steve Coppell.

City chairman Steve Lansdown said: “We bought players in and those players are not necessarily first choice, as far as Keith is concerned.

“He has had to bring in players and that does cost.”

Among those expected to be shipped out in January include Tom Williams, Nicky Hunt, Damion Stewart, Gavin Williams and Kalifa Cisse, while Sam Vokes is expected to return to Wolves after an injury-disrupted loan spell.
