City’s game at Forest called off

City’s game at Nottingham Forest on Saturday has become the latest fixture to fall victim to the weather.

While the pitch is thought to be playable, the icy conditions around the stadium have been deemed too dangerous for the public.

Forest had fears for the safety of the crowd as they made their way to and from the stadium and after consultations between both clubs, the Football League and local authorities, the decision has been made to call it off.

Forest Chief Executive Mark Arthur said: “It’s not a decision that was taken lightly but the safety of both sets of supporters, as well as our staff, is of paramount importance.”

Fans who purchased tickets for this game will be valid for the re-arranged match, which will probably come in the New Year.

However, City boss Keith Millen was understandably annoyed at the late postponement.

“I’m disappointed because we’re on a good run. We knew it would be a tough game at Forest but we had a strong squad with Christian Ribeiro and Jon Stead back fit.

“It’s another game we’re now going to need to fit into the schedule somewhere during midweek later in the season, probably in the New Year.”
