Cup Changes At Watford

Bristol City secured a place in the second round of the League Cup following the thrashing of Plymouth earlier in the month.

The reward for City was a tie against Premier League side Watford.

When the Robins travel to Vicarage Road this evening we’ll do so with Lee Johnson, as much as he’s up for this game against a topflight side, prepared to make changes to his starting XI.

It’ll not be wholesale changes but the boss feels there’s some players he would like to take a look at, who deserve the chance – so Johnson will make amendments to the side that drew with Millwall in the Championship on Saturday.

‘It`s a great game for us because it`s against Premier League opposition,’ Johnson told the Official Website.

Adding: ‘I`m sure they will make one or two changes. I don`t want to make crazy changes, but I do want to make changes for the people that I feel deserve a shot. I`m excited because there are a couple that I really want to see play and they`ll come up against top opposition.’

Johnson will remain without the injured Milan Djuric along with Matty Taylor and recent loan addition from Fulham, Cauley Woodrow, will be forced to sit out as he’s cup-tied, due to the fact he turned out for his parent club in round one.

However, Aden Flint, without an appearance since coming off the bench on the opening day of the Championships season, withdrawn from the first round tie, could return as the boss has made it clear he’s had enough of the speculation.

The boss said: ‘I`m fed up with other managers talking about our players – I don`t think that is right. It`s put up or shut time really. I might even pick Aden for the Watford game.’
