Liam Fontaine leaves Bristol City after nearly nine years at the club admitting that the time has now come for him to take on a fresh challenge.
The 28 year old who has made 294 appearances in a City shirt was one of the players that manager Steve Cotterill released from the club at the end of the season.
Now Fontaine is looking for a new club to prove himself at after a season that he slipped down the pecking order at Ashton Gate.
Speaking to City’s official website he said: “I`ll always cherish my time at Bristol City and enjoy looking back on it. The city of Bristol is fantastic and my family have grown up here.
“But I totally agree with the gaffer, I think now is the right time to move on.’
This season Fontaine made just seven appearances for the Robins although he was on loan at Yeovil for a period where he made a further five for the Glovers in the Championship.
