Dean Gerken has signed a new two-year contract to keep him at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2013.

The 25-year-old’s current deal was set to expire in June and City boss Keith Millen is delighted to have retained his services.

“I’m delighted Dean has agreed this new deal and he thoroughly deserves it,” Millen told www.bcfc.co.uk.

“Dean is a quality goalkeeper and is just the kind of player I want on our books.

“He’s been very professional in his approach this season and continues to work terrifically hard in training.

‘”Dean wants to play like every other player but he doesn’t moan or cause any trouble, he just gets his head down and gives 100%.'”

The ex-Colchester ‘keeper joins current No.1 David James in penning a new deal.

Questions are now bound to arise surrounding the future of the highly-rated Irish custodian Stephen Henderson, who is currently excelling on loan at Yeovil Town.
