Assistant head coach Dean Holden has spoken of his pleasure at seeing Bristol City overcome a dogged Bolton Wanderers side in Tuesday evening’s fixture.

Hosting the side at Ashton Gate for the game, goals from Famara Diedhiou and Aiden Flint gave us the two nil victory and Bristol City went unbeaten in ten across all competitions.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Holden explained.

‘We bossed possession in the first half but didn`t play with as much adventure as we would have liked. We were up against tight opposition who were never going to be too expansive. They made it difficult for us. Fam is getting in the right areas now and he`s adding the goals to his game, which gave us the breakthrough.’

Holden went on to say.

‘The sending-off at half-time was a pivotal moment and in the second half we took over the game. I think it helped us. We played with a lot more width in the second half and kept tiring them out. We knew we could drain them and their confidence.’

With two goals on the night, Holden also felt we could’ve scored more.

‘We probably could have won by a few more goals and Bolton goalkeeper Mark Howard has had a fantastic game for them. Flinty has scored one off his back; it was a great strike from Packy and Flinty has run off like he`s scored a screamer. He gets in the right places though, he`s got a real striker`s head on him. We`ll take the 2-0 win and another clean sheet – that`s three on the spin now. There`s a lot of optimism around, which is fantastic to see, but we aren`t getting carried away.’

With Pack picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign, he’s now suspended for Saturday’s trip to Ipswich Town.

‘He`s a central midfielder and he`ll pick up bookings, but it opens up a door for others at Ipswich now. That`s why we`ve worked hard to build a strong squad.’

With Flint scoring our second on the day, in his own interview he explained.

‘I want to see Marlon`s GIF more! I`m really looking forward to that, if or when it comes. We could be waiting a while. You just have to use the props available to you. There are a few out there and I did have a quick look on my phone as soon as I got back in the dressing room to see which one had gone out. It`s a funny GIF and I hope my other ones go down as well.’

He added.

‘I didn`t know too much about it to be honest. It`s hit me on the back and gone in the bottom corner, but I`ll take it. I tried to get out of the way! We controlled the game really and had plenty left in the tank. We could have scored more goals, but we`ll take a 2-0 win. That`s three clean sheets in a row. The team has done so well, being resolute. We`ll always score goals so if we can keep them out at the other end then it bodes well.’
