City’s new loan striker Chris Iwelumo is determined to prove his worth whilst at Ashton Gate.

Iwelumo, signed on an initial one month loan from Wolves on Friday, is keen to get over a spell of injuries that has seen him sidelined for the best part of nine months.

Now back and chomping at the bit, the 31-year-old Scot admits he has plenty to prove, both to himself and his new supporters.

“Having been out for so long, I think I need to prove a point to myself more than anyone else,” said the 6ft 3in big man.

“It’s been a frustrating nine months for me, and it’s a relief just to be playing again. I just want to make up for lost time.”

The Scot only found out news that City were in for him late on Thursday and Iwelumo jumped at the chance to join us.

“I first heard City were interested in taking me last Thursday afternoon. When the gaffer called me in and asked if I fancied it, I said ‘yes’ straight away.

“Now it’s up to me to prove I can do a job for the club and do myself justice in the Championship again. Now I’m with Bristol City, I’d like to give the supporters something to shout about.”

Lets hope big Chris gets the service other strikers have so craved, starting with in-form Leicester’s visit to BS3 this evening.
