Bristol City boss Lee Johnson was more than happy with his side after they took Bolton Wanderers apart at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The 6-0 scoreline could have been even bigger as City looked slick and meaningful every time they progressed forward, while remaining solid at the back.

Goals from Aaron Wilbraham 3, Lee Tomlin 10, Peter Odemwingie 53, Scott Wagstaff 79, Jonathan Kodjia 86 and Joe Bryan 87, had the crowd purring with delight.

But although the boss was happy with the convincing win, he did warn that his side could not afford to take their foot off the pedal and they must fully commit themselves to gaining more points.

And it was just the response Johnson had been looking for from his side after they had to suffer some bad publicity last week.

Johnson told reporters after the game: ‘The dressing room was quiet before the game and I didn’t know quite what to make of it. Thankfully, it proved the calm before the storm.

‘The players were desperate to show the good side of Bristol City after the week we had been through as a group and I think they deserve huge credit.

‘They wanted to put in a performance for everybody and they did just that. I am so chuffed for them.

‘But there is still so much room for improvement and, with clubs near the bottom picking up points everywhere, we have to maintain standards.

‘I want to finish as high as possible in the table to set down a marker for next season.’

City now have a break from games until 2nd April when the take on Hull City away from home in the Sky Bet Championship.
