City chairman Steve Lansdown has revealed the only target for the City this season is to stay in the division.

The Robins go into Christmas lying in 19th place, five points and two places above the dreaded bottom three.

And with Steve Coppell’s decision to walk out in August throwing the club into chaos, the chairman cannot wait to get 52 points on the board.

“We’ve got to get at least 52 points to get our safety and that’s got to be our first aim,” Lansdown told BBC Radio Bristol.

“Quite honestly, at this stage, that’s got to be our only aim. Anything more than that is a real bonus.

“The main thing is to be in the Championship. We’ve had a good period but we haven’t done anything yet. We’ve got a long way to go.”
