City Chairman Steve Lansdown has revealed he will relinquish his duties as of 31 May 2011.

The 58-year-old pensions magnate will be replaced by existing chief executive Colin Sexstone.

“I have been Chairman for nearly nine years now and on the Board for fourteen. It is time I took a fresh approach to my involvement in Bristol City,” Lansdown told bcfc.co.uk.

“This is partly down to the fact that I now live in Guernsey, which does not permit my attendance at the club in the manner befitting an active Chairman.”

While Lansdown is walking away from his Chairmanship, he will continue to support the club financially from his home in the Channel Islands.

“As I step down from the role of Chairman of the Board of Bristol City Holdings, my ties to the football club remain unbreakable.

“I remain committed, as the major shareholder, to supporting the club financially and am very excited at the prospect of working with the Board to achieve the vision of Bristol City playing at the highest level in the best possible surroundings.”

Lansdown also announced four new appointments to the Board of Directors.

New CEO Guy Price will become an Executive director, while Lansdown’s son Jon and Ernie Arathoon join the board as Non-executive directors. Martin Mulligan becomes the new Finance director.
