Bristol City manager Derek McInnes is looking to improve his side further before the big kick-off in August and is now looking at West Ham striker Sam Baldock and unattached goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

McInnes has not yet finished his strengthening of the squad, it is believed he is on the look-out for a striker, a central defender and a keeper before August 18 when all the talking stops and we get down to action.

Baldock could be the ideal player to replace Nicky Maynard, he scored 40 plus goals while at MK Dons from just 82 appearances, yet he is down on West Ham`s pecking order. And although the player wants to get his place back in the side, he may become interested in City if promised regular first team football.

There seems to be nothing happening regarding the enquiry to West Brom about keeper Boaz Myhill so out of contract, ex-Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon could be the ideal man to have at the club to provide competition for Dean Gerken.

The 29 year old was released by Sunderland at the end of last season and is yet to find a new club.
