City boss Keith Millen has expressed his gratitude towards outgoing chairman Steve Lansdown, who gave him a chance to prove himself as a manager.

Many fans claimed City had gone for the cheap option when Millen took over following Steve Coppell’s latest disappearing act last August.

But the 44-year-old rookie emerged from a turbulent campaign with flying colours after guiding City from bottom of the league to a credible mid-table finish.

And with Lansdown stepping down as chairman after Saturday’s clash with Hull, Millen is keen to ensure Lansdown’s reign ends in style.

Speaking to the Bristol Evening Post, the City manager said: “This is an important game for all sorts of reasons, but the main one is that it’s the chairman’s last.

“There will be a lot of publicity surrounding the game and quite rightly, because he has done a fantastic job for our football club and will continue to in the future.

“I’d like to send him off with a good performance and a victory and finish the season off on a high note for him.”
