No Loans To Boost The Numbers

City gaffer Gary Johnson has resisted the temptation to delve into the loan market again despite his squad running low on fit players.

Without Dean Gerken and Louis Carey for tomorrow’s visit of Scunthorpe, the City boss could be forgiven for thinking someone has been sticking needles into a some kind of City-related voodoo doll after seeing his squad decimated by illness and injury in recent weeks.

Gerken, Clarkson and Haynes are have all been struck down by the mystery virus whilst Nyatanga, Orr and Maynard seem to have beaten the bug to play some part tomorrow.

With Elliott, Ribeiro and Carey all adding to the list by struggling to shake off niggling injuries, Johnson has ruled out making any more moves in the loan market.

“If we bring in a loan then when someone is back fit again there will be too many around,” Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post.

“When they are all fit we have got a squad where there is competition for every single player’s role.

“Generally there is two for one position and that is how I like it.”
