Bristol City manager Derek McInnes wants the boo-boys at Bristol City to lay off his players and get behind the side as they look to get away from the Championship`s relegation zone.

City have been getting some excellent support at home games of late, especially in the games against Leicester and Cardiff, but that was not the case in the 2-0 loss to Watford when players were singled out for criticism from the home fans.

The lads are back at Ashton Gate on Saturday after going to Middlesbrough and picking up a useful away point last time out, Derby are the opponents and McInnes wants to present a United front with fans 100% behind their team in this must win game.

McInnes told the Bristol Evening Post: ‘We all have a part to play. I would appeal to the fans, regardless of whether your favourite player is playing, or if there are a couple of players you don’t fancy, to think before getting on their backs.

‘Even if things are not going right on the field, I want them to think twice and really get behind the team. Hopefully, that positivity and support from the sidelines will really help the players to get us the result we need.

‘At the moment, we need all the help we can get. The players are determined to reward the great support we have and any possible feel-good factor at Ashton Gate is going to help.’
